Gloria Dawson is a New York City-based writer, photographer, and editor. Her work focuses on food, art and photography, the environment, media, business, and technology. Her writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Mashable, National Geographic.com, Columbia Journalism Review.com, Shape Magazine.com, Edible Manhattan, The Daily Green, and Atlantic Media's Quartz, among other publications. She's worked in the editorial departments of Quartz, The Daily Green, and the New York Times and in the photography departments of Allure and Vanity Fair magazines. She has extensive experience in social media management and launching websites. She's been on the launch team for Quartz, The Daily Green, and Delish. She ran East Harlem NYC, a hyper-local website site she founded, from 2009 to 2011. The site was profiled in the New York Daily News for excellent local coverage and mentioned in the New York Times, Curbed, Time Out New York, and others. She earned her masters degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where she concentrated on digital journalism and interned at the social media desk of the New York Times. She received her BFA from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University where she studied photography and art history and interned at Vanity Fair. |
